The Parliament’s Bureau
The Parliament’s Bureau is responsible for the Parliament’s internal organization and for the session planning. According to the Parliament’s regulation, the bureau carries out the following tasks:
- It completes the pieces of groundwork for the sessions.
- It chooses the sessions that are going to be partially or totally recorded by the media. For this, it draws up objective criteria.
- It takes the measures necessary for the general management of the Parliament: building renovations, significant equipment costs, visitor reception, official delegations, etc.
- It appoints the Parliament’s staff, except the secretary general who is elected by the Parliament.
All the recognized political groups must be represented in the Bureau on the basis of the proportional representation system, as is the case for the other committees. That is why the majority at the Parliament automatically has a majority in the Bureau.
