The Wallonian Region includes both the French and German language areas.

Some facts about the Wallonian Region:
- Population: 3,456,775
- Number of communes: 262 (including the nine communes of the German language area)
- Capital with seat of Parliament and Government: Namur
- Other important cities and towns: Liege, Charleroi, Mons, Arlon, Wavre, Tournai, Nivelles, Verviers
- The Wallonian Parliament has 75 MPs
- The Wallonian Region has 9 Ministers
- The annual budget of the Wallonian Region is roughly 5.6 million EUR.
According to Article 139 of the constitution , the DG can exercise Regional powers.
According to Article 138 of the constitution , the Wallonian Region can exercise powers of the French Community. Currently the Region exercises the following Communitary competences: tourism policy, job training and vocational training, school transport, subsidizing of communal and private sports facilities, medical care and social assistance to families, immigration policy, policy for the elderly, care of the disabled, etc.
