The French Community
The French Community exercises its powers within the French language area and for the Francophone Institutions in Brussels. The Community Parliament and Government have their seat in Brussels.

However, the French Community has transferred some of its powers to the Wallonian Region and the Francophone group within the Brussels Regional Council: tourism policy, job training and vocational training, school transport, subsidizing of communal and private sports facilities, medical care and social assistance to families, immigration policy, policy for the elderly, care of the disabled, etc.

The Parliament of the French Community with its 94 MPs is not voted by direct ballot, it consists of:
- the 75 MPs of the Wallonian Regional Parliament,
- the 19 members of the Francophone group within the Brussels Regional Council.
The Government of the French Community may only have 8 members, of whom at least one must maintain majority residence in the bilingual area of Brussels-Capital.
